Specialized wanted to use a mixed-media approach to tell the story of the S-Works Ares Road Shoe. The shoe featured engineering advancements in stability, comfort and power, all of which needed to be communicated on screen without text.

Global brands like Specialized are always looking for innovative ways to make content more accessible in different markets, but that created the challenge of representing these features through different styles of art and animation, without using language-specific text. Using style frames and references we pitched the various looks to symbolize the closure system, the comfort of the inner-sock lining, and the power transfer from the shoe to the pedal.
